Alaska Aviation 09.18.24


Where I live in the midwest in the United States there is quite a fair amount of general aviation that takes place. What I see though is, for someone who sees it all the time, boring. Cessna 150’s and 172’s, Bonanzas, and a handful of pipers. Lucky enough I do live next to a small community strip that is home to a Texan but that only comes out every so often.

Alaska is a whole different matter. Yes there are still 150’s and 172’s, though not as many Bonanzas and pipers as I would have thought, but there is a much larger variety of them. You have some on bush wheels, skis, or floats. That’s just something I don’t get to see often. Besides the basic Cessnas there are much more unique planes flying around. During the five days that I was there I saw Lynden Air’s C-130’s and L-100’s, Porters, Blackhawks on skis, beavers, Beechcraft 1900’s, and even a DC-3. As someone who loves general aviation, especially those older planes, it was amazing to just look up and be able to see stuff that I could never see where I’m from.


Searching Youtube 09.17.24


Have you ever tried searching something on youtube and get minimal results for something you feel like there should be more of? Well that has been me, more than once. Most recently, I was looking for guitar tabs for Type O Negative’s song Angry Inch. I searched Type O Negative Angry Inch guitar tabs, Angry Inch Type O Negative guitar tabs, and Angry Inch ton guitar tabs. You know how many results there were? Two. There were three the other day but when I searched again before writing this there were three, somehow one entire result has disappeared. But more so to the point, how are there this few results? The song was released in 2003 and they’re trying to tell me that in that time only three youtube videos were made about it. I find that hard to believe. Looking up just the song itself only comes up with three videos before moving on to other songs by them. Maybe there are in fact that few videos and I’m just complaining about nonsense. I just feel like Youtube has changed so much from what I remember it.
